In addition to the linky, I'm taking this opportunity each week to write a little bit about a my favorite moments from the past week. I hope you'll feel inspired to leave a comment telling me about your favorite thing(s) that happened this week, too!
These are a few of my favorite things:
Without a doubt, my favorite experiences this week revolved around telling our loved ones that we're expecting our second child. With our immediate families (parents, siblings) we called or Skyped with them and (with the exception of one call which happened while we were out of the house) we played a recording of the baby's heartbeat for them to hear. It was so fun to see and experience everyone's reactions! A couple of our family members had eerily similar reactions to the first time we called to tell them I was pregnant, and others were very different than the first time, which I thought was interesting to get to observe. The excitement and congratulations from family and friends on Facebook were so heartwarming and joyful, too! I'm so grateful we have so many people surrounding our family with love and support during this happy time of growth and transition. We're very excited to welcome this new little one into our family in a few short months!
Jaymz, Daniel, and I had the pleasure of an early morning breakfast date earlier this week with my friend Amy who was in town on business from Germany. Amy and I have been friends since high school, and I'm so grateful that even though her family is in Ohio, her company has a headquarters just outside of Portland! She visits once a year for work, and we get to spend some quality time with her along the way. I really enjoyed seeing Amy again (as I always do!) and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to share food together and catch up on our lives.
Last Sunday, we participated in our neighborhood's Portland Sunday Parkways, a bicycling event that's held around different neighborhood parks over a handful of weekends each summer. This is the third year in a row that we've done Sunday Parkways (the first year we went, Daniel was just shy of 13 months old), and this was the first time I've ridden a bicycle while pregnant! I've been feeling fairly fatigued and queasy for the past few months, so it had been a while since I ventured out on my bike.
It ended up being a heck of a lot of fun (and I felt great!), even though we had to cut our ride a bit short in order to get home in time for nap. Daniel rode in his trailer behind Jaymz, and I rode solo (sort of). We stopped for some delicious cart food for lunch, and then enjoyed walking around our favorite park together before heading back out on our bikes. I just love the energy present at these kinds of community events—there's nothing quite like it!
