My #OneWord365 for 2013: Grow

Last year I participated in the One Word 365 project, and my word was persevere.

I maintained several practices along with the persevere theme, including a year-long daily journaling practice and taking a daily (mamatography) photograph (of which I completed all 52 weeks, but published only 41 weeks here on the blog). I also completed a few personal goals, including running my first 5K. I found inspiration on Pinterest, and even made a modest persevere board to help motivate me along the way.

I really enjoyed exploring the year-long theme in 2012, so this year I've chosen a new word: grow.

From the Dictionary.com definition:
grow (verb): to increase by natural development, as any living organism or part by assimilation of nutriment.

I have already started into a second year of daily journaling, which is growing my journal one sentence at a time. In addition to that practice, this year I plan to write a post here at the end of each month which focuses on what I'm doing in my life along with the grow theme. Each month will be unique, and I'm sure the focus will adapt and change as the theme grows with me throughout the year.

Jaymz has also chosen a word again this year: connect. Head over to his site to read about his interpretation of this word and what it means to him as we begin this new year.

Did you choose one word this year? What new beginnings are you enjoying since the new year began? I'd love to hear about it!

  2. I'm really looking forward to these monthly updates on your year of growth, Amy. I'm certain I'll be inspired by the chance to follow along. I know many choose a word for the year, but I love the idea of building intentional practices around it. It seems like a great way to make some real change.

    1. Thanks, Melissa! For whatever reason, last year's word felt more private, but this year I'm feeling excited about sharing the journey. I'm glad you'll be following along with me! <3
