There's something really fun about the anticipation that comes with Christmas. I remember, as a child, lying awake many Christmas Eves, totally unable to sleep because I was so excited for Christmas morning to arrive. I just couldn't wait to go down the stairs to the living room to see the full stockings laid out with our gifts, to eat brunch together while leisurely opening presents together. I was always so excited to see if my family liked the gifts I got for them.
My brother, sister, and I got into the habit of waking our parents early Christmas morning by blasting Handel's Hallelujah Chorus up the stairs to our parents' bedroom. I'm sure they enjoyed that part very much (especially after staying up late doing Santa things)!
It's fun to think of the years to come with Daniel, and being able to experience the Christmas morning anticipation in a whole new way through him. I look forward to seeing the excitement on his face when he comes down the stairs Christmas morning.
Today is a fun day because it's not quite Christmas Eve, but it's not an average day, either. I've always kind of liked this day, because the excitement and festivities haven't started, but it still feels special. Today, I'll be doing prep work for meals for the next few days, and I'm looking forward to spending the day with Jaymz and Daniel tomorrow. Maybe we'll get out the new game we got for Christmas (a little early) and play it together.
Are you doing anything special (or extra-relaxing) on this non-holiday day?
We did enjoy that musical awakening very much! Have a very wonderful day today ... and tomorrow ... and ... !
