songs for...kids?

Just now I was playing with Daniel and it started pouring outside all of a sudden, and without thinking about it I started singing to him:

"It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring--"

I stopped abruptly because I realized (and then relayed to Daniel) that I'm not going to finish because the old man dies and the end (or is at least comatose) and I don't really like that song anyway. It got me thinking: what's with all the childrens' songs about death/scary things/heavy topics?

In "Rock-a-Bye Baby," some neglectful parent has put their child's bedding in a tree of all places, and in the end, everything comes crashing to the ground. And we sing this to help a child fall asleep? Uh...what?! "Ring Around the Rosey" is about people dying of the plague, "Jimmy Cracked Corn" (one we sing around here a lot) is about a slave master dying....

Why do you think this is? What other depressing or scary kids' songs can you think of? (Or is this topic far too ridiculous and inconsequential to even discuss?)

  1. The actual refined hublot replica sale hyperlinks, satin-finished external hyperlinks using the refined sides tend to be fairly near to excellence. To not overlook, the actual Oysterlock foldable security hold as well as Easylink 5mm expansion hyperlink tend to be rolex replica sale because actually. The actual acquainted overhead appears classic, but rolex replica is actually installed using the Triplock multiple waterproofness program. It's going to mess lower combined with the rolex replica uk pushers flanking this upon possibly aspect associated with it's overhead safeguard. As the replica watches sale took the actual display, both call choices from the brand new 2016 Rolex Cosmograph Daytona create a large effect on the entire appears. The actual whitened call using its replica watches sale appearance may appear to be the greater apparent option for a lot of, however the dark call edition ended up being a genuine stunner within the steel.
