I was at yoga tonight and we had just finished shavasana, and I remarked to the woman next to me that her baby is due just two days before mine! (Now I know this means close to nothing when it comes to when our babies will actually arrive, but it was fun to have that connection with someone so I went with it.) This started a conversation between us about what we had talked about during the beginning of class check-in time, and she was very empathetic to the feeling that I've been having lately of being "done" being pregnant. At the end of the conversation, she said,
"Well may your--Boy? Girl?"
"We don't know yet."
"Oh! Well may your bundle of surprise come early!"
Thank you so much, fellow yoga momma! Your thoughtfulness and kind words mean a lot to me.
I'm so glad that I was introduced to this yoga class because it has been such a wonderful place to go and not only have special time with my baby and get my body moving in beneficial ways, but also to connect with other amazing women who are all going through this life-changing process of pregnancy. The energy in that room is incredible, and it has been extremely beneficial to me through this time to have a regular yoga practice and be able to go to that safe place with all those mommas and be totally open about what I'm going through.
The other thing I love about the class is coming back each week and seeing how everyone is growing and changing so fast. It helps me to experience in a very real way the cyclical nature of life, and the natural process that is pregnancy. It also puts into perspective my life and my pregnancy, in the knowledge that there are a huge number of women who are doing this all over the world at the same time. I know I will draw on that great community of strong women when I am in labor.
